TRAD. JAZZ lovers rejoice, for The Jelly Roll Jazz Band are proud to announce the release of their new album: ‘Tradding Uncharted Ground’!
Recorded outdoors while actually walking around the 2024 Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show, this album features 12 brand new recordings of 12 very old jazz tunes, ranging from the relaxed pootling of ‘Ja-Da’ through to the manic insanity of ‘Barney Google’.
But it is also so much more, because as you listen, the band will parade you around and fully immerse you in the atmosphere of the showground. As well as the music, you will hear the distant sounds of tannoys blaring, tractors chugging, dogs barking, and even an errant pipe band that manages to cause one or two problems… And as if that wasn’t enough, this album even manages to capture some of the weird little conversations that make these events so endlessly fun and peculiar.
A ‘field recording’ in the purest sense, ‘Tradding Uncharted Ground’ is a unique celebration of walkaround jazz that captures the joys of a most traditional British day out.
Recorded live at the Royal Lancashire Show, 19th-21st July 2024
